A Clean Slate: Tabula Rasa In Brief

I’m taking a break World of Warcraft in order to play some other titles and spend more time with the family. Problem is, my wife is a WoW addict, so yeah.
Among the games I’ve been wanting to play is Tabula Rasa. I downloaded the game, played for 3 days free, and liked it just enough to spring for the retail box.
The game is much more demanding on PC hardware compared to WoW. I run what I would consider an entry level gaming system; 1.8 Core2 Duo OC’d to a very stable 2.67, 1GB of DDR2-667, and a 6800GT. 60FPS in WoW is easy with this rig … 15-20 in TR.
That’s still playable of course, but it just doesn’t feel smooth. The interface took some getting used to after 3+ years of WoW and I must say that I’m still not happy with it. I’m going to give it at least another month to grow on me.
Missions are “ok” so far. At level 10 I’ve got what I guess is a decent level-appropriate machine gun, and some super powers too. Most of which I have no idea how to use.
Chat text scrolls by quickly during peak EST play times and an occasional murloc (yes – in TR) and/or Chuck Norris melee breaks out. It’s not as bad as Barren’s chat or /trade since BC. Most of the players seem to be ex or current WoW players. No surprise there.
The game is not WoW in space, though it may try. When I first started WoW I could not stop for 3 years straight. I’ve yet to log into TR this evening and I’ve been home 4 hours. - True Story
